The Little Girl Who Paid The Ultimate Price (Find Out)

The strange cycle of life, sometimes it makes one feel really helpless. That moment when one feels like, ALRIGHT! THIS IS IT…..I GIVE UP, IT IS FINISHED. That was the case of a young lady I met during a tour to a distant community. I joined in a gathering and heard her speak, her words were filled with so much love and hope, but narrating the story of her life, inspired me to write about it.

She was told she had a chronic disease by her family doctor and she just had three years to leave. WHAT? She exclaimed, I DON’T DESERVE THIS!!!!......NO I DON’T, she concluded.
Believing she has nothing to live for, she dragged her innocent family, friends and well-wishers into her situation, so they could feel the wickedness she felt in the world, she was filled with so much rage that could bring the world to a standstill. Oh! Wicked world, she would say, I gave my all to you, trying to be a better person every day of my life, I would help the sick, I would visit the needy, and I did everything that is required of me by my religion. Today, I have been diagnosed by the doctor and he said I just have 3 years to live, I don’t know how I got here but I don’t plan to leave this world alone. NEVER! Filled with rage and revenge, but who is she angry at? Who does she want to pay back…? The questions she struggles with every day of her life……

She became really arrogant, she would keep late nights and she would shout at her parents and whenever they try to calm her down she would leave the house, and one day, she never returned, she met with some group of confused kids; they would rob the bank, and commit all sorts of atrocities never heard of since the inception of the world.

One of the nights, they came to this house to rob it off its treasures. They broke into the home which was occupied by an old woman and her granddaughter, when they got in, they molested the old woman, but whenever they tried to hit her granddaughter she would throw herself in front of her granddaughter and they would hit and kick her, it continued like that until they wanted to leave, and the little girl held the hand of the lady and said to her “you don’t have to end up like this”, the lady  immediately pushed the little girl to the ground and ran out of the house, she had noticed the abnormal temperature of the child. She became restless; she couldn’t believe what her life had become.

In the wake of the morning, she left really early to the house they had robbed late at night, she kept her distance, waiting to see the next step the old woman and her granddaughter would take, she couldn’t understand such unconditional love displayed by that old woman last night when they tried to hit her granddaughter. At about 10am, the little girl stepped out of her house looking so alive and peaceful like nothing went wrong last night. She went to a gathering close to her house. She goes there every day to encourage the community. People will gather to hear her speak.

On the third day after the incident, this lady went to their house again still keeping her distance, but this time, she discovered a large crowd in front of the old woman’s house, when she asked what had happened, she was told that the little girl had passed on and they came to pay homage to her. The lady became really curious and restless, she could not sleep, and her friends were starting to get pissed at her for being obsessed with that old woman and her late daughter.

She summoned up the courage to walk up to the old woman, and she enquired tirelessly about her granddaughter that had passed on, at last, with a big smile on the face of the old woman, she told the lady about the heroic life of the little girl. She said, at the age of 4, the little girl lost her both parent to a ghastly car accident. After which, the little girl was taken to the orphanage home where she got adopted at the age of 7, she was maltreated and made to do hard labour and all sorts of tedious work a girl her age can’t handle lest she would breakdown. When the news came to her (the old woman) about the welfare of her granddaughter 3years after, she carried out all the necessary legal procedures to free her granddaughter from the hands of her monstrous adopted parent. Just one year after the little girl started leaving with her grandmother, she fell sick and was rushed to the hospital, and the doctor, after running several test on the little girl, said the little is suffering from an incurable disease which she might have obtained from God knows were and she only had 3 months to live.

The old woman said, she was worried and she would cry day and night and ask questions, but no answer was provided. This little girl has suffered and now that she is free to live a better life, she just has 3 months to enjoy it. The old woman cried. But the little girl walked up to her, pat her on the back and said, “our lives is not ours, and it is not for us to decide what is to be and what is not, neither is it for us to decide when it is to be, let the supreme one worry about that”.

She was just 11years, the old woman laments, and she thinks like an older me, I was amazed by the way she saw life and how she took life so lightly, the old woman said.
The little girl started her missionary mission, gathering crowd every 10am, inspiring them from the Bible and the Qur’an, she talked on love, hope and believe;

She would say from the Bible, “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” Oh, how well she inspired the people of the community and myself with her words of hope and love…..Oh, how well they were blessed, the old woman continued

She would say from the Qur’an, talking about oneness, we have appointed a law and a practice for every one of you. Had God willed, He would have made you a single community, but He wanted to test you regarding what has come to you. So compete with each other in doing good. Every one of you will return to God and He will inform you regarding the things about which you differed.” (Surat al-Ma’ida, 48)

Never stop trusting in that which fills you with so much joy. Never stop believing. Never give up hope. The little girl inspired a lot of people. She only had three months to live, she was just 11years. But she didn’t care, she new she had a message to pass across; she knew she needed to tell her story but she can’t leave long enough to tell it so she gave others all they need, to tell the story. Oh! Oh!! Oh!!!, I miss my little girl…..The old woman cried…..

The lady after hearing all these, broke down, and shared her predicament with the old woman. How selfish?…she still had three years to live, see all the havoc she had caused, see all the people she had hurt…..OH! SHE SCREAMED, I have failed you little girl, I was suppose to inspire you, but I hurt you, and you in turn inspired me. I am a grown lady, I have seen life to the fullest, but you were just a little girl with a terrible past, but none of that got to you, Oh how well furnished you are in your heart. Thank you for bringing me back into the light.

From thence, this lady knew she had to take a new turn, she knew she had a message to pass on. So she would go to that exact spot were that little girl goes to everyday by 10am and proclaim her words but this time with a story, a true life story. And the crowd were the witnesses.

Here is my take on this, Your situation might be that of the lady or that of the little girl. No matter what you are going through, never feel or think that your situation is worse. Nobody deserves to get hurt by the death of their loved ones, nobody deserves to be told that he/she has few years to live, it just happens, and that is yet another face of life with its mystery. It is yet another tragic face of life, one must not hurt others because there is a hole he/she lives with that cannot be covered up no matter how much they try.
