A Girl And Her Pride

She feels she has the pride of an eagle, She always feels on top of the world, like she alone exist, She doesn’t want to let anyone explore her garden, She is too selfish, wicked and annoying with her words. We mumble, we cuss, keeping nothing back, filled with so much hate we just wish we can make her disappear, WHY?

A girl and her pride, most people find a girl’s pride offensive but truth is, that is all we have, and we have to keep it, if we let loose then the same people seeing us to be annoying will turn around to see us as worthless whores.

“I protect my pride more than anything in this world; I am a girl with great pride and am not letting anyone take that away from me anytime soon, because that is all I have left in this world” Natasha laments
Natasha the only girl in a family of five grew up getting to know about sex the hard way, she grew up with so much hate for men and their deceptive acts. At the age of nine, she had been raped by a group of boys in her community; she was seen as the fairest of all the girls in her community before that scene took place in her life. Everyone felt she had lied about her predicament;

“I was only nine years old, I came back home bleeding and crying, I had gone to visit a friend of mine without the consent of my parent, I needed a mum to hug me to tell me it is going to be OK, I needed my dad’s strength because I was so weak, NO I couldn’t handle this one alone, but instead what did I get, I got a heavy slap on my back, heard my mum saying, she (Natasha) has always had her eyes outside, she knew this was the only way she could have brought it to us (that she is not a virgin anymore) that we will accept, but NO we won’t, whatever comes out of this your situation you are alone in it” Natasha tells

She being the only girl in the family was pampered and spoilt but she knew what she wants. She had always been asked out even at her age by old married men, making promises to her, and though she had little or no knowledge about relationships, she knew now was not the right time. It was a taboo in their land for a girl of her age to loose her virginity, and the parent will be the mockery of the community, so they had to save their heads, leaving the little girl all alone. Yes, she got pregnant, she would cry day and night, she wouldn’t eat, not like anyone cared in the house, she was treated like a commoner in her own father’s house, and at last she lost the baby. Though loosing a baby isn’t a good thing, and one shouldn’t rejoice when such happens, but she rejoiced and she was relieved, she got her life patched up again little by little though she didn’t heal permanently.

Natasha grew to become a strong independent lady, she only had her eyes on her work, no time for pleasures, she would work day and night just to keep her thoughts away from that night that she was raped. She kept on living alone, whenever she gets hurt she would drink away her sorrow, she literally became a female drunkard at night and an independent lady during the day. She knew it was not right, she knew she had to get a life, but how can she, her religion wouldn’t permit her to be a lesbian, she doesn’t even like the word ‘LESBIANISM’. She had her first sex at the age of nine which didn’t turn out well because it was a rape, and up until now she has no intention of doing that anytime soon. What is she scared of? Move on girl!!!!

Yes she moved on, she joined a community that filled her with so much love and made her know that she wasn’t alone. Making her understand that there are many other ladies that had worst experience than she had, and some had died in the process, but her being alive and very successful today means she is a survivor with a purpose.

You can choose to ignore and keep living like you are living with so much hate and anger or you can choose to help the younger ones who are victims of this same act out, though you never had such help but you and your story can make a change, you knew how you felt when you first got raped, you knew the words that could have calmed you down. It is left for you to help the younger gens, loosing is not an option, you must win, you must survive and you must learn to love. Those words inspired Natasha. Natasha got showered with great love from the community; she kept on getting inspired, fell in love, and just got married.

Here is my take on this, Rape is a situation in the world today. Parents should learn to assist their kids if found to be a victim. Make them feel like they are not alone, you as a parent were not perfect at their age. Never let you kids down when they need you most. Parents hold onto your child no matter the situation and pat them on the back, telling them it is going to be OK. Don’t always discourage your kids with your words, they deserve the best.

I wish to know how you feel about this, you can comment below or contact us.
